From our humble beginnings as just two people working from a small home office, to over 15 employees with 7500 sq/ft warehousing and a fleet of vehicles on the road, the last 20 years has been an exciting, rewarding, and sometimes challenging journey for our business.
As we reflect back on our history, looking at our achievements and the people that have made us who we are today, we are honoured to share this journey with you, as well as our plans for the future as we continue to serve our valued customers and grow.
Where it All Began
In September 2005 Kilworth was founded by Neil and Janine Stanway. At the beginning, along with primary fitter Richard Harris, Kilworth became a supplier of commercial flooring into occupied care homes for existing contacts.
Our vision and mission was simple. We wanted to provide a quality service, great products and regular communication, at a fair price to support the occupied care sector. Though we have grown, this foundation has remained at our core, and Neil, Janine and Richard are all still integral members of the team, helping to guide the business as it evolves.
Watch our story below:
Key Milestones and Achievements
With immense pride and a deep sense of honour, we cherish the relationships we’ve cultivated, some spanning back to our very beginnings over two decades ago and remaining as strong as ever. Alongside these long-standing partnerships, we have also forged numerous valuable new connections throughout our journey.
We have been recognised with multiple awards from Recofloor, the vinyl recycling platform. From our management team, to our fitters and drivers, all have played a part in diverting many tonnes of waste from landfills to a more environmentally friendly process.
In 2008 we grew our portfolio, introducing the furnishings division of our company along with our Sales Director, Steve Ireland. This meant we were no longer only a supplier of commercial flooring, but allowed us to expand our offering of quality service, products and communication from a trusted provider to encompass furniture and fixings for our clients.
We have seen some challenges over the years, most notably during the Covid Pandemic as the care sector simply stopped for the duration. Having to furlough long-standing employees was emotionally challenging – but all were maintained and continue to be with us.
Our Culture and People
At Kilworth, our culture is one of endeavouring to offer outstanding service to our customer base, and to look after our employees in the same way. Most of the team has been with us for many years, and we continue to nurture their development so that they can grow with us.
We have grown from just two employees and two subcontractors at the start, to a team of eleven full time employees and five subcontractors, all of whom share our company values.
We work primarily in occupied care, and so we try to instil in our staff that the people in these homes are and always will be someone’s husband, wife, mother or father and so on, and that their respect and comfort comes first, as we would want for our own family.

Kilworth’s Impact on Our Clients and Industry
Not only have we been long-standing contributors to the Recofloor Vinyl Recycle Scheme, we have also donated fabrics to a local charity, The Max & George Trust, to use for their kennels. This incredible dog rescue, rehabilitation and adoption centre helps to track, trap and reunite lost dogs with their owners, and provides therapy dog sessions, education and enrichment days working with schools, care homes and the local community.
Recently we partnered with a neighbouring company who collects donated goods and equipment and arranges for these to be transported to areas around the world where civilians are living in challenging conditions.
All our product donations are to be given to schools, hospitals and refuges in areas that consistently require aid. We have gifted hospital mattresses and medical equipment to the largest medical centre in Northwest Syria to enhance their levels of patient care, and we will continue this partnership to help more people all over the world.
We have worked with wonderful clients on a range of interior design and fit out projects. We always strive to provide a service of professionalism, quality and great value to everyone we work with, and we are always honoured by the wonderful feedback we receive from our clients.

What’s Next?
Our vision for the future is to continue supporting our valued customers, and to grow our customer base to provide more people with exceptional service. We wish to carry this on with our existing team, and to offer them opportunities to develop their skills to take on more senior roles, so that we can inspire the next generation of employees.
